DETAILS Due to rip rap failures under the bridge, the channels and columns have been exposed to severe scour/erosion, and repairs are needed. This can lead to access, safety, health, and the well-being of the citizens. The channel condition of this bridge is a major contributor to the flooding of Ben’s Branch natural stream. This bridge rehabilitation is an immediate improvement for flood prevention and protection of the citizens in the Kingwood area.

    • One lane of traffic near the bridge may be closed intermittently, with the bridge remaining fully open during peak hours.
    • Detailed logistics and safety plans are being developed with the contractor.
    • Construction is anticipated to start in March or early April, subject to various factors such as material procurement.
    • The adjacent sidewalk may also be closed, pending finalization of safety measures with the contractor.

    Additionally:

    • Design phase is completed.
    • Construction is scheduled to start in Winter 2024, aiming for completion by Summer 2024.
    • Anticipate minimal traffic delays during construction.
