GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION
Q: What is the purpose of this project?
A: The Project will replace and widen a street that has deteriorated beyond economical repair and normal maintenance. It will improve traffic circulation, mobility, and drainage in the service area. These improvements will upgrade the existing roadway to MTFP standards. This also allows additional sewer collection system capacity to be constructed.
Q: What is going to be replaced/installed in this project?
A: Will replace a 2-lane asphalt road with a 4-lane concrete thoroughfare from Kirby Drive to Holmes Road with storm drains and ditches and Construct ~4,000 LF of Sewer Collection System.
Q: How long is this project going to take to complete?
A: Original Duration was 500 days with delays and construction issues the project will be substantially complete by January 2024.
SIDEWALKS, TREES & LIGHTING
Q: Will there be Street Light Poles installed?
A: Yes, streetlights have been installed by CenterPoint.
Q: What trees are being removed?
A: The Tree Protection Plan identifies the trees to be removed, including removing diseased or dying trees. The City of Houston identifies trees that can be preserved on a case-by-case basis.
CONSTRUCTION
Q: At some point, will my utilities be affected?
A: No.
Q: Will this project cause traffic/mobility issues (lane closures, increase of trucks in the area, etc.)?
A: Yes, Road Closures on Holmes Rodd from Kirby Drive to the Buffalo Speedway Connector.
Q: Are they going to dig up the front area or just the street?
A: The front area will be reconstructed as well as the street.
Q: When will my services be transferred to the new line?
A: This is a commercial area, mostly undeveloped.
