Why This Project Matters

1. Moves wastewater more safely and reliably

The Easthaven to Southeast Wastewater Treatment Plant – Package 3 project upgrades and extends wastewater lines so flows can be diverted from the Easthaven facility to the Southeast Wastewater Treatment Plant. That means wastewater is removed from neighborhoods more efficiently, reducing the chance of overflows and keeping streets and yards cleaner and safer.

2. Upgrades the full underground backbone, not just one pipe

This isn’t a spot repair—it’s a full utility rebuild: roughly 10,750 feet of new wastewater lines, 16,000 feet of new water lines, and 9,700 feet of stormwater improvements, paired with 3.8 miles of new pavement. The result is a stronger, modern system under the street that’s built to handle today’s demands and tomorrow’s growth.

3. Makes it safer to walk, roll, and live along the corridor

About 18,500 feet of new sidewalk, 54 new or improved ADA ramps, and 39 new streetlights turn this work into a real quality-of-life upgrade—safer routes for kids, seniors, and people with mobility needs, plus better lighting at night for everyone.

4. Delivers a major investment in District I’s future

With an estimated budget of $37.7 million and construction planned from Winter 2026 through Winter 2028, this project is a serious, long-term investment in public infrastructure that protects public health and supports surrounding homes and businesses in Council District I.
