Thank you for your interest in the Westpark Paving and Drainage project! We're excited to share that by the end of February, we'll be reducing both lanes to just two lanes in each direction. This will help us complete the project more efficiently and get you back to your daily routine as soon as possible. Emergency vehicles will still have access to the same lanes as before during the previous lane closure at West Houston Center Blvd. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work on improving our community's infrastructure.

Share Is there a plan for Streetlights for this expansion? There are some existing streetlights in place in the 12100 and 12200 blocks of Westpark, but they are currently in the middle of the new sidewalk on the south side of Westpark and they are not active. We are assuming that CenterPoint will be moving them. We are having to re-design our irrigation system for this entire area and need to know where the new streetlights will be located. on Facebook Share Is there a plan for Streetlights for this expansion? Jeff Baker asked about 1 year agoHowdy Neighbor!
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, there are plans for streetlights in the project. As part of the plan, the existing light poles will be removed and replaced with new ones. To facilitate the electrical wiring, new pull boxes and conduit stubs will be installed above ground. The Home Association within the 10200 block is currently working with the Contractor to determine the new locations for the streetlights. Thank you for contacting Engagehouston.org!

Traffic lanes on Dairy Ashford at Westpark intersection have just been reduced to 2 lanes. How long before Dairy Ashford will be restored to 4 lanes
adkeller asked over 1 year agoThank You for contacting Engage Houston regarding your question. All travel lanes will be switched to one side, or another alternating based on the location of the work. The Contractor will be installing storm lines and then water lines. After the underground work is completed, the contractor will begin working on pavement and installation for the new traffic signals. The Contractor will then begin working on the intersection by quadrant which will require intersection lane reduction as well depending on which corner the work is located. Lanes on Dairy Ashford will be reduced until the end of the project and we anticipate the intersection opening fully in the beginning of 2024 but that is contingent on any unforeseen circumstance.

adkeller asked over 1 year agoThank You for your question regarding dedicated bike lanes. The project has dedicated bike lanes westbound between Wilcrest and Kirkwood from Wilcrest. Gallant Bend has a dedicated bike lane eastbound, but that is between Kirkwood and Gallant Bend. The bike lane will be shared with the sidewalk and widened for both bicycles and pedestrians. Thank You for contacting EngageHouston.org.

Share Is anyone looking at controlling the speed when this new autobahn is completed. Drivers already speed and run stop signs on other parts of Westpark as well as speeding while cutting thru the neighborhoods that feed into Westpark. SlowDown asked over 1 year agoThe Speed limit will remain at 30 MPH. Houston Police will be reinforcing the law. HPW does not currently have a program to moderate speeds along significant thoroughfares like
Westpark. HPW staff is coordinating with the Planning and Development Department under the framework of Vision Zero to research tools and legal requirements for these types of speed-control devices. You can get more information about Vision Zero at the website: https://www.houstontx.gov/visionzero/about_us.html. Thank You for contacting EngageHouston.org -

Jofayc asked about 2 years agoHowdy Neighbor! Trees will be mostly re-planted in the median section inside the project limits. City of Houston Forestry group will be the last people to make the final decision on where to plant the new trees. As of current, there is no trees shown on the plans on the south side of the Westpark between Kirckwood and Wilcrest.

adkeller asked over 2 years agoHowdy Neighbor! Dairy Ashford and Wilcrest will be reduced to 2 lanes for the duration of the intersection reconstruction, not the duration of the project. It is expected that the reduction in the number of lanes will last 2-4 months, depending on the contractor’s schedule.
