Why This Project Matters

1. Modernizing Aging Infrastructure

The existing infrastructure at the Sagemont WWTP is aging and requires significant upgrades. By diverting flow to the Southeast WWTP, the city can decommission the older facility, reducing maintenance costs and improving overall system performance.

2. Enhancing System Capacity and Reliability

The project includes constructing approximately 8,750 linear feet of 36-inch fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) pipe and 450 linear feet of 36-inch ductile iron pipe (DIP) force main. These improvements will increase the capacity and reliability of the wastewater system, ensuring consistent service during peak flow conditions.

3. Environmental Protection

Upgrading the wastewater infrastructure minimizes the risk of overflows, which can lead to environmental contamination. This project supports the city's commitment to protecting local waterways and ecosystems.

4. Operational Efficiency and Cost Savings

Consolidating treatment operations at the Southeast WWTP allows for more efficient use of resources and reduces the need for redundant facilities. This approach leads to long-term operational cost savings for the city.
