Why This Project Matters

The Melrose Park Section 2 project focuses on improving stormwater drainage and street conditions to better protect homes and enhance daily life. Here’s why it’s important:

1. Reduces Flooding Risk
By regrading and re-establishing ditches, this project improves the flow of stormwater runoff to the Harris County Flood Control District drainage systems—helping prevent water buildup and reduce the risk of neighborhood flooding.

2. Improves Drainage Capacity
Replacing and resizing driveway culverts ensures that water flows more freely beneath driveways, reducing backups and helping streets drain faster after heavy rain.

3. Renews Road Surfaces
Asphalt pavement overlay or replacement will make roads smoother, safer, and more durable—benefiting drivers, cyclists, and emergency responders.

4. Protects Property
Better drainage and upgraded culverts help protect homes and yards from storm-related damage, especially during Houston’s intense weather events.

5. Supports Long-Term Resilience
