The Frenchtown Area Project focuses on improving surface drainage and roadway conditions in a historic neighborhood. Here’s why it’s important:

1. Reduces Flooding Risk
By regrading ditches and improving culverts, the project enhances the flow of stormwater. This helps reduce the chance of standing water and street flooding during heavy rain.

2. Improves Street Conditions
Milling and overlaying the roadway will smooth out damaged pavement, making streets safer and more comfortable for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

3. Enhances Neighborhood Access
Reconstructing driveways and replacing sidewalks where possible improves daily access for residents, particularly those with mobility challenges.

4. Preserves Historic Infrastructure
Focusing on surface-level improvements—without installing underground stormwater pipes—helps maintain the existing layout while addressing key drainage and roadway needs.
