SlowDown asked over 2 years agoThank You for your questions regarding the Chelford Diversion Project.
How will waste from West Houston come through the Cheford City location along Brays Bayou in the Ashford Park subdivision?• The plan is to divert flow east from the Chelford City Regional WWTP to the City’s Upper Brays Bayou WWTP.
Other than Engagehouston.org is there a website on how much waste will be diverted to the Chelford City Diversion and where it is coming?
• The data flow of West Hollow LS is 0.54 MGD while the peak flow is 2.81 MGD.
• Engagehouston.org is the best website source of information for the Chelford City Diversion project. The City of Houston’s Geohub website may be an additional source of information.

Why this Project Matters
The Chelford City Diversion Package 2 project focuses on improving wastewater infrastructure to support public health, environmental protection, and system reliability. Here’s why it’s important:
1. Improves Wastewater Management
Upgrading wastewater systems ensures that waste is collected and treated properly, reducing the risk of backups, overflows, and contamination.
2. Protects Public Health
Efficient wastewater systems prevent exposure to harmful bacteria and pollutants, keeping neighborhoods clean and safe.
3. Supports Environmental Sustainability
Improved wastewater infrastructure reduces the chances of untreated waste reaching local waterways, helping protect Houston’s natural resources.
4. Reduces Service Disruptions
Infrastructure improvements help avoid costly emergency repairs and service outages, providing more consistent and reliable service to residents.
5. Prepares for Future Growth
As Houston continues to grow, modern wastewater systems ensure the community can meet increasing demand without compromising safety or quality.
