DETAILS The S. Gessner Road project will rebuild the street from Richmond Avenue to Buffalo Bayou. The rebuild includes improvements to the roadway, sidewalks and side paths, new street trees, new traffic signals, corridor drainage improvements, and the replacement of a water line.

General Project Information
What is the purpose of this project? The work for this project will improve corridor operations for all travel modes, adds intersection capacity where needed and feasible, improves the streetscape design to provide high quality accommodations for people walking and biking with increased shade trees for comfort, and integrates improvements for the MERTO's 45 Gessner BOOST route. In addition, the project will also enhance safety for all users, minimizes the impact to surrounding properties, maintains mature, healthy trees wherever feasible along the corridor and provides spaces for new trees, improves corridor drainage to current standards and supports regional drainage, updates utilities and pavement condition as needed, and meets the needs of the community. | |
Will there be opportunity for public input? Public meeting(s) would be held in early 2023 during the detailed design and Environmental Assessment (NEPA) processes. This will offer more opportunities for public input and engagement. the project duration and schedule is yet to be determined and will be shared on this website as soon as it is available. How is this project being funded? This project is being funded through H-GAC’s Transportation Improvement Plan. The City of Houston will be providing funding to serve as a local match with TIP funding covering the majority of the project costs. An updated project budget will be refined and shared as design is finalized. |
