DETAILS This is an access management roadway improvement which will be a median modification to allow only West- and East-bound left turns from W. Tidwell Rd to Guhn Rd. This will remove through movements North or South on Guhn Rd as well as North- and South-bound left turns from Guhn to W. Tidwell Rd. The restrictions were based on a detailed crash analysis. Drivers wishing to make restricted movements will be able to U-turn at median openings 400-ft east and west of Guhn. Access to all adjacent properties will be maintained.

What is HSIP? The Texas Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) is a federally mandated program managed by TxDOT. HSIP, directed by Texas’ Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP), works to achieve the main objective of significantly reducing traffic fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads by providing a standardized approach for identifying and reviewing specific traffic safety concerns throughout the state. Texas’ SHSP identifies the emphasis areas and strategies that the HSIP will focus on to meet the state’s objectives of reducing fatal and serious injury crashes in Texas.
What is the purpose of this project? The purpose of this project is to improve road safety for all road users as well as improve traffic flow.
How long is this project going to take to complete?
3 months. Work is scheduled to begin in Summer 2023 and anticipated to be completed in Fall 2023. The project schedule depends upon weather conditions.
