    Ready, Set, Engage!

The sidewalk improvements on Kipling involve installing steel cover plates to address challenges posed by large tree roots and construction issues. Once the materials are ready, the contractor will trim and install them. Additionally, some areas have wheelchair ramps supported by Centerpoint poles. We're working closely with Centerpoint to speed up their work and ensure smoother sidewalks for everyone.

    Howdy Neighbor!

We at the City understand the value and beauty of our trees and is committed to make sure we evaluate and preserve all trees within the project area when possible. However, due to the drainage, safety, and mobility improvements planned for the Kirkwood Paving and Drainage Subproject 2 project, some of the trees along Kirkwood Drive will be impacted and require removal.   The good news is that no trees along Briar Forest will be impacted by this project.

The City does have a tree ordinance that governs the removal, mitigation, and care of trees within the City’s right-of-way for construction projects.    At the conclusion of this project, the Contractor will be installing new trees along the project alignment to mitigate for the removal of the existing trees per the Ordinance. To get more information about the tree protection plan for this project, please visit the project page at  engagehouston.org.

Howdy Neighbor! Thank You for contacting Engage Houston regarding your question. The Court Road (Lexington Road) extension to Hillcroft Avenue is to provide a higher level of connectivity and direct routes to and from the neighborhood not only for residences but emergency vehicles (police, fire, ambulance, etc.).The extension is also part of the City’s major thoroughfare plan.
