Why This Project Matters
The North Corridor Consolidation Package 4 project strengthens Houston’s wastewater system by modernizing aging infrastructure and improving efficiency. Here’s why it’s important:
1. Expands Wastewater Capacity
The project will build more than 12,000 feet of large wastewater lines using trenchless (micro tunneling) methods. This allows wastewater to be diverted more efficiently while minimizing disruption to streets and neighborhoods.
2. Retires Aging Facilities
As part of the work, the MUD 203 Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Greens Crossing Lift Station #1 will be demolished and abandoned, reducing reliance on outdated facilities that are costly to maintain.
3. Improves System Reliability
Upgrades and modifications at Greens Crossing Lift Station #3 and the Northgate Regional Lift Station will strengthen overall system performance, helping to prevent breakdowns and service interruptions.
4. Supports Long-Term Community Growth
By consolidating and upgrading wastewater infrastructure, the project ensures the system can meet current and future demand while protecting public health and the environment.
