Why This Project Matters
The Lift Station Renewal and Replacement project is a major investment in upgrading critical wastewater infrastructure across multiple locations in Houston. Here’s why it’s important:
1. Modernizes Outdated Systems The project converts several lift stations—including Bintliff, Gessner #1, Gessner #2, Park Ten, and Willowbend—from older wet well/dry well configurations to modern submersible systems, improving reliability and efficiency.
2. Extends Infrastructure Life At Farther Point, the submersible lift station will be rehabilitated and strengthened with protective coatings on pumps, piping, valves, and wet well surfaces to extend service life and reduce maintenance needs.
3. Improves Safety and Operations Upgrades such as diversion pumping, new bypass manholes, force main replacement, and protective bollards will make these facilities safer, more resilient, and easier to operate during high-demand situations.
4. Enhances Community Resilience By ensuring wastewater systems remain dependable, the project protects neighborhoods from potential service disruptions while supporting long-term growth and sustainability.
